This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant, pumping facilities, and water distribution system while helping provide high-quality drinking water to the Knoxville community.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Operate and monitor water treatment plant equipment and processes • Collect and perform required water quality tests • Monitor pumps, motors, valves, tanks, meters and other equipment • Make adjustments to treatment processes and chemical feed systems • Maintain accurate operational and regulatory records • Perform routine maintenance and repairs • Assist with water main, valve, hydrant and service-line maintenance • Locate and repair water system leaks • Read meters and monitor system pressures and flows • Respond to water system emergencies and after-hours calls as needed • Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work environment • Perform other duties related to water treatment and distribution operations
QUALIFICATIONS • High school diploma or equivalent • Valid driver’s license • Ability to obtain and maintain required Iowa water operator certificatio Ability to safely work around water treatment chemicals and equipment • Strong attention to detail and commitment to public health and safety Experienced certified operators are encouraged to apply.
