Coralville, Iowa - Wastewater Operator
Under limited supervision, performs skilled work in the maintenance and repair of plant processing equipment, buildings, machinery, grounds, sanitary lift stations, storm water pumping stations and sanitary sewer collection system maintenance. Performs required laboratory analysis and record keeping in compliance with State and Federal regulations including the collection of grab and composite samples. Operates and monitors City wastewater treatment plant and equipment to maintain wastewater treatment processes in compliance with State permit requirements. Completes other related tasks as required. Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Will be on-call on a rotating basis.
QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education, Training, and/or Experience Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
B. Licenses and/or Status Required: Grade II wastewater operator's certification required. Two years of wastewater plant experience is required. Valid class B commercial driver's license with air brake and tank endorsement and satisfactory driving record required.
C. Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: Knowledge of wastewater treatment process and related controls for operation of activated sludge treatment plants. Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing methods. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and regulations. Skills in computer operations for monitoring and operating process control equipment. The ability to read and comprehend technical manuals, gauges, charts, graphs, flow schematics and blueprints. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and calculate process control formulas including hydraulic and organic loadings, volumes, surface areas, pump rates and lab data. Ability to operate heavy equipment such as tractors, boom truck, end loaders, lifts and dump trucks and jet vacuum truck. Ability to prepare written logs and records. Ability to make repairs to wastewater treatment plant machinery, fixtures and equipment. Ability to carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time under adverse conditions.
SALARY
$57,289 plus benefits which includes a Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield insurance plan free for single policy and only $35/month for family policy.
