GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Distribution Manager, performs a variety of administrative, planning, and technical duties in planning, coordinating, and analyzing the activities of the Distribution department; performs related work as required.
Qualifications
• Five years of experience reading and preparing plans and specifications for water distribution systems
• Basic water modeling experience
• Basic utility GPS skills
• Must possess a valid driver's license with good driving record
• This position requires the Driver remain insurable under the Company’s coverage
• Possession of an Iowa DNR. Grade II Water Distribution Operator's certificate or ability to obtain it within 24 months of appointment
• Candidates must have an acceptable driving record to be selected
• Basic engineering plan reading skills
• Basic computer skills
• Occasionally handles up to 50 pounds and lifts 25 pounds
• The selected candidate must also be able to pass a preemployment drug screen and physical
• All candidates who are offered a position must complete Section 1 of Form I-9 along with the required proof of their right to work in the United States and proof of their identity prior to starting employment
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Distribution System Manager, prepares plans and specifications for review; performs field project management including survey, inspection, and documentation; and reviews plans for compliance with Iowa construction standards.

Sioux City, Iowa - The City of Sioux City Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic-In-Training to join our team.
Under guidance and direction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance Supervisor, assists with the routine maintenance and repair of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and related facilities and equipment.
This position assists in performing maintenance and repair work on all plant facilities, pumps, engines, motors, chemical feeders, filters, bar screens, valves, pipes, heat exchangers, air compressors, heating/cooling equipment, aeration equipment, and all other major mechanical and hydraulic equipment found in a Wastewater Treatment facility and collection system. Other duties are outlined in this position description.
Special Requirements: Must obtain an Iowa Grade 1 Wastewater System Certificate within 24 months of appointment.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Ensure that all sewer systems within the City of Granger are functionally operable and serviceable to the community in an environmentally safe and personal non-risk manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Operate Grade III (3) Activated Sludge Wastewater Facility (New Spring 2016)
2. Respond to emergency calls as necessary, locate, diagnose problems, and correct issues.
3. Inspect and maintain sanitary sewers.
4. Perform general ground maintenance work such as mow, trim, spray weeds, and snow removal.
5. Locate and mark sewer utilities per One-Call requirements.
6. Observe and enforce safety precautions.
7. Operate trucks, tractors, and other motorized equipment of comparable size and complexity.
8. Perform related duties as required.
9. Participate in weekend on-call rotation.
10. May be temporarily assigned to work with other departments as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Follow and adhere to the City Code of Ordinances.
2. Complete or maintain required CEU’s.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school education or GED equivalence.
2. Minimum Grade I (1) Wastewater certification preferred, with ability to obtain Grade III (3) within agreed time frame.
3. Must have the ability to acquire and maintain a valid Iowa Class B CDL within 6 months of hire (will train).
BENEFITS:
1. Salary range for this position is $50,000-$80,000/year commensurate with experience and water/wastewater certifications.
