Revised Lead and Copper Sampling Plan Template
(Added 3/16/2016)

The lead and copper sampling plan template has been revised based on the recent guidance from EPA.

The areas of major revision include:

  • Clarification of Tiers
  • Clarification of sampling procedure (i.e., Iowa has never encouraged pre-stagnation flushing, however normal water use prior to start of the 6 hour stand time is acceptable and preferred; hard water tap only; 6 hour stand time applies to the whole house, not just the individual sampling tap)
  • Encouraging water supplies to provide consumer notice as soon as possible, even though the requirements allow 30 days (this is a suggestion EPA is pushing)

The revised plan is available on the DNR website at http://www.iowadnr.gov/Environmental-Protection/Water-Quality/Drinking-Water-Compliance/Forms or on the Forms page under Drinking Water Compliance.
