Attendee Information

 

 

Registration/Cancellation Policy

All conference participants must register. A full registration includes all training sessions (Mon-Wed), admission to the Exhibit Hall, Monday Best Tasting Water Lunch, Monday Welcome Reception, Tuesday Awards Lunch, Tuesday Social Event and Wednesday Lunch.  Register early (before February 1st) using the Super Saver Full Registration option to receive a full registration discounted fee. 

If written/faxed notice of cancellation is received by January 26, 2018, you will receive a full refund minus a $50.00 administrative fee.  No refunds will be issued after Friday, January 26, 2018. Meal Tickets are not guaranteed for on-site registrations.

If you have special physical or dietary needs, please indicate so on the registration form.

 

Hotel Information

Rooms have been reserved at the Holiday Inn Downtown in Des Moines.  Your reservations can be made by calling (515) 283-0151 or on-line at www.iowaruralwater.org.  To register online, click on the Holiday Inn logo and follow the online procedures.  A maximum of two reservations per person will be taken. Please DO NOT reserve more rooms than you will need as you will be charged a cancellation fee. Simply mention that you are with the IRWA Annual Conference to receive the special conference rate of $97.00.  Deadline for Holiday Inn reservations is Sunday, January 21, 2018.  Additional rooms are available at the Marriott Downtown Des Moines.  For reservations at the Marriott, call (515) 245-5500 and mention IRWA to receive the $128.00 conference rate.  Deadline for Marriott reservations is Sunday, January 28th. 

 

Parking

Complimentary self-parking is provided for overnight guests of the Holiday Inn Downtown hotel.  Parking is also available at the Iowa Events Center for an entrance fee of $8.00.  Free Shuttle Service will be provided to and from the Holiday Inn Downtown and Veterans Memorial Community Choice Credit Union Conference Center.  If you are staying at the Marriott Downtown, the overnight valet parking fee is $24.00 per night and overnight self-parking fee is $14.00 per night.

 

Skywalk System

Exciting things are happening in Greater Des Moines! The city is building a new 330-room convention center hotel.  The Skywalk has been closed between the Iowa Evetns Center and the hotel until recently.  It is NOW OPEN.  The Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau has created a map you can use to navigate the Skywalk.  It is called the SkywalkDSM app to help you find your way.  The app is available for download on both iOS (Apple) and Android devices. Use these tools to get to where you need to be.

If you are a Marriott guest and would prefer not to walk, please use the Complimentary Marriott Shuttle Service.

 

CEU Information

Up to 1.5 CEU credits (15 hours) can be received for water treatment, water distribution or wastewater if you attend the entire annual conference. These may be split depending on which sessions you attend. Monday equals 0.5 CEUs, Tuesday equals 0.5 CEUs and Wednesday equals 0.5 CEUs.  CEU forms must be completed before you leave (if you leave before Wednesday) or at the end of the conference on Wednesday, February 14th. 

 

Registration Desk OPEN

The IRWA registration is open continuously during the conference.  Starting first thing Monday morning, you are welcome to come and get checked in at any time during the day.  We will also hand out packets during the evening Welcome Reception.  So come and join us whenever you arrive.  

 

Sportsman Raffle

The opportunity to purchase raffle tickets will be on Monday Evening and Tuesday Morning/Afternoon of the conference.  Proceeds benefit the IRWA Equipment Loan Program. Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the Exhibit Hall, join us for beverages and snacks and the announcement of all raffle winners.  Thank you in advance for your support of IRWA’s efforts for Iowa utilities.  Please note…this year EVERY attendee gets one free raffle ticket to place in one of the Sportsman Raffle boxes.  Take this opportunity to be a part of the fun and try your luck!

Seek and Find Game

This year we are introducing the IRWA Exhibit Hall “Seek and Find” game.  You can find your “Seek and Find” game card with your registration packet.  Find all twelve items in the exhibit hall, put your name on the game card and turn in your form at the IRWA Registration Desk in exchange for a small prize.  In addition, your completed card will be placed in a drawing for a chance to win $200.00 cash.

 

Vendor Plinko

Play Vendor Plinko in the Exhibit Hall on Monday night and Tuesday.  Each attendee gets one chance to play Vendor Plinko and win a prize donated by our Vendors.

 

T-Shirts

Each attendee will receive a conference t-shirt.  This year’s shirt features our conference logo.  Get your free shirt in the Exhibit Hall on Monday night or any time on Tuesday.  We also sell t-shirts at the registration desk as part of our “Faith In The Faucet” campaign.  See an IRWA Employee for details.

 

Monday Daily Announcement Session

9:00 AM on Monday, February 12th our IRWA Board President, Rod Glosser will provide some General Conference information.

 

First Timer Meet & Greet

If you are a first time attendee of the conference visit our First Timer Meet & Greet on Monday, February 12th at 8:30 AM or Tuesday, February 13th at 7:30 AM.  During this short meeting, IRWA Staff will give you a brief overview of the conference and insider’s prospective.  Also, we will introduce you to a few IRWA conference veterans.  This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you may have about the upcoming conference schedule and events.

 

Best Tasting Water Luncheon

Monday, February 12th at 11:30 AM we will enjoy a buffet lunch together in the Grand Ballroom B at the conference center.  In addition, our “Best Tasting Water” contest will be held during the lunch.  Our panel of judges will sample all entries and judge them on Taste, Bouquet and Clarity.

 

Welcome Reception

Be sure to join us for the Monday Night Welcome Reception from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM in the Exhibit Hall at the conference center.  Don’t miss this chance to relax and visit with our vendors.  We have also invited Iowa legislators to attend and have the opportunity to connect with their constituents.  In addition, games and prize drawings will be held, including a drawing for $500.00 CASH.

 

Tuesday Daily Announcements Session

Join us on Tuesday morning starting at 8:00 AM for some general conference information from IRWA Board President, Rod Glosser and IRWA CEO Greg Huff.

 

Tuesday Exhibit Hall

The Exhibit Hall will be open ALL DAY on Tuesday.  Our vendors are always excited to have an opportunity to say Hello.  Take this opportunity to thank them for being here.  Their contributions are what make this the largest Industry Event in Iowa.  And remember, we will continue to hand out conference t-shirts, playing PLINKO, spinning the Cash Wheel and hunting for the “Seek and Find” game images.  Plus, the winner of the “Seek and Find” game will be announced at the Tuesday Afternoon break in the Exhibit Hall.  The Exhibit Hall is not available on Wednesday of the conference.

 

Awards Luncheon

The IRWA Awards Luncheon will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM in Grand Ballroom B and is included with a Full Registration.  The meal will be a plated meal you can enjoy with your colleagues in a casual atmosphere.  Our luncheon is an opportunity to honor key system and community leaders for their commitment to the industry.  Awards will be announced before the lunch begins to honor our recipients. In addition, our 2nd $500.00 Cash winner will be announced at this time in the ballroom.  Following the awards, we will have a casual dining experience with time to socialize with your peers. 

 

IRWA Tuesday Social

Join us on Tuesday Evening at the Holiday Inn Downtown starting at 5:30 PM in the “Blue Drop Lounge” for our IRWA Social.  Enjoy a networking opportunity with IRWA Staff, IRWA Board Members, Exhibitors and your peers.  There will be an IRWA Host Bar and light hors’doeurves.  This event sponsored by Murphy Tractor & Equipment.

PAC Breakfast

Senator Ken Rozenboom, chairman Senate Natural Resources Committee and Representative Chip Baltimore, Chairman, House Judiciary Committee are the two leaders on the water quality and water infrastructure debate in the Iowa legislature.   Come hear them discuss their perspectives on the best ways to address water quality issues, including how to engage and involve public water suppliers.   They will also provide an overview of other issues that might occur during the 2018 legislative session.  Contribution expected (not included in registration).

 

Wednesday Lunch

Join us in Rooms 305 – 308 for a soup and sandwich luncheon before the close of our conference.
